From mum, Child's Age 13 - 8/9/02 - IP#: 62.252.1.55 Click here to reply can someone tell me if i am right or wrong for using plastic pants on my daughter when she is at school? She is a regular bed wetter and we use cloth nappies and plastic pants, but has not had daytime accidents, but recently has come home with very dirty pants, not wet but with poo.She hasnt done a poo in them but soiled them like she hasnt wiped properly,so much so that it has gone through onto her skirt.I dont know why this is happening, she goes to the toilet every morning and makes herself go poo.Just recently the nappy she has wet during the night has also had poo in it,so i checked on her after she had gone to bed and found her squatting on her bed and straining into the nappy.Having asked her if she was ok she just says yes,i am ok.She has also started to sit for long periods on the toilet each evening. She is now straining into her nappy 2 or3 times each week. She puts on and changes her own nappy, putting the used one in a bucket each morning, but the nappy is soiled only 1,occasionally 2 times the following morning, however sometimes there is blood on it.It has been suggested to me that when she resumes school she should wear plastic pants to prevent her soiling dirtying her skirt, but this is my concern, when i was at school in the late 60's early 70' many girls wore plastic pants for a variety of reasons.Do they do this these days?i am not thinking of a nappy, just plastic pants on their own.If any parent of a teen girl who wears plastic pants at school would like to tell me i would be gratefull,,i dont wont to do this and cause my daughter embarrasment,,or any other advise would be appriciated.thanks.

From Ellen Anne, Child's Age 10, 13, 15 - 8/1/02 - IP#: 24.44.67.164 Click here to reply My 10 yr. old daughter has been having a few day time time accidents before we were driving in the car yesterday and my 10 yr old wet her pants. 30 minutes later we stopped at a gas station for a bathroom break and my daughter told me she had an accident. She said she din't want her big sisters to know so I suggested diapers and she said Ok. We went there and I told everyone Anna (10) forgot her bathing suit. She changed shorts in the car and we walked in and bought Huggies diapers and pullups. I took her into the bathroom and she said she wanted to try the diapers first. She layed down on the changing table and I switched her underwear to a diaper. When we got in the car we still had and hour and a half left . She wet her pants so I changed her and now she wears them every day. Are my doing the right thing or are my not?? She wets a lot in the day and know one knows. Please help!!!!

I know in the past when she has gone to the bathroom in the middle of the night she wasn't really awake. Should I get pullups or wait we are going on vacation this week! Should we check for a blader infection? It's 5:30 in the morning and I am worried.

From Tom, Child's Age N/A - 7/31/02 - IP#: 62.252.32.6 Click here to reply I also agree with jennifer lyn that yes there are people who post in these type of websites who are what you call freaky but there are truely some real concerned parents who are trying and seeking out ways to help their kids I found it strange that while on a long journey a parents should put a disposable nappy on a teenager just to save stopping as a father of three children with 2 special needs children and one dare I say it normal one I would stop at the service area of the motorway on long journeys and allow my children to go to the toilet however my one child was not out of nappies until nine because his brain was not sufficiantly aware to be trained so he was in nappies while on long journeys now he is trained we stop at the services for them to use the toilet .yes if parents have children who are incontinent then yes there is a need to use such aides but not just for the sake of not haveing to stop on the journey.

From Dee, Child's Age 11 - 7/31/02 - IP#: 12.226.12.173 Click here to reply I am new here, I came to this sight because after a year of wondering what else I could do to get my son to wipe, or stop him from pooping his pants, I realized that it could be a medical problem. I have not yet had a full discussion with his doctor, I have only mentioned it and was told to get him off of caffeine completely and make sure he did not get constipated often. PLEASE HELP ME, if you have any information about this... (Click here to see rest of message.)

From amanda, Child's Age 10, 11, 7, 6 - 7/29/02 - IP#: 24.44.67.164 Click here to reply When we go on long car trips my daughters can't hold it so they just pee in their pants. When they did this we stopped at Target and they all got new pants and they were put in pull-ups. When we got to the condo. They were all wet. so we changed their pullups. The whole vacation they all had to weir pull-ups in the day and in the night. Now they wet very rarely at home. We are now going on a 7 hour car trip and we are wondering if we should put them in pullups, diapers or just avoid the situation. Please Write me comments. amanda

From christy, Child's Age 7 - 7/10/02 - IP#: 65.206.167.2 Click here to reply My son is seven years old and only wets the bed a night. We have tried waking him up and taking him to the bathroom twice a night but he has no clue he went. Once, he asked me to not put the overnight pull ups on him but after the second morning of waking up wet and having to take a bath he asked for the pull ups back. The doctor has put him on DDAVP, we started with one pill for two weeks, two for two weeks, three for two weeks and now we are up to four pills an evening. I am getting frustrated, because the medicine does not seem to be the solution. Any suggestions from parents with similar problems would be appreciated.

From Donna, Child's Age 5 - 7/7/02 - IP#: 24.191.82.152 Click here to reply This is my first venture into researching bedwetting. My son wets once or twice every night. I know that it is common for boys his age to outgrow this over time, however, I also know that if one or more family members were bedwetters, heredity plays a part in make him a long term bedwetter also. I don't want to wait until he is older to help stop the problem. Here are my questions. 1. Should I stop with the Pull-Ups cold turkey or wean him off of them? 2. Does getting him up at night ever help? He is a very deep sleeper and never wakes up when I take him to the potty or change his wet clothes? 3. Have any of you used PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL successfully? (They claim a 100% success rate!!) They will not give any information over the phone and require an in-person meeting to evaluate if they can help your child. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

From Donna, Child's Age 16 - 6/6/02 - IP#: 216.206.38.86 Click here to reply I am having a problem with my teenage son. I recently discovered that he has been wetting the bed. Not a lot but enough for it to be noticeable on his sheets. I asked him about it and he said that he has been wetting on and off for two years. I told him I wanted to take him to the doctor and he started to cry. I don't know what to do he seems very embarrassed. He never cries. He has hardly spoken to me the past few days. I need advice I don't want to embarrass him, but I think he should be checked out by a doctor. Thanks.
