I was angered and horrified to read a Newzealand headmaster used the cane on a 13 year old boy because he wet his pants to gain attention. I was also angered and horrified to know that same boys parents humiliated him at home see John's reply (pp.13 9/17/01 and my heartfelt reply (Rob 10/17/02)badly written in the early hours but, I hope, my experiences will warn other parents who may be considering such techniques -of which there seem to be a few! I am so happy to see that I am not alone. I have been dealing with my 13 y/o son wetting his bed for 10 years now. There are times that he can be dry for months and stops all medication. Then it starts again and each time it gets worst.
I have cut out all sleep overs, ask for his help in changing the sheets and have spoken to him about it. I have suggested diapers and he got all teary eyed and ask me not too. I feel in my heart that by making him wear these, I am making him feel worst then he already does.
He is a good looking kid with lots of friends, an honor student and excels in sports.
His Father and I are divorce, but this started long before. I have however notice that when he has no contact with his Father (he had stopped speaking to his Father for 8 months) that was when he stopped wetting and his medication. I would never tell him this for fear that he will recent his Father. He Father thinks that this had stopped long ago. I have covered for my son for the last 4 years and the only other person that knows is his Nanny.

I have a question. My daughter has a big problem with both day and night wetting. She is 12 and she wears diapers pretty much all the time. She wears a type of pull up to school and an actual "baby" diaper (Depends)the rest of the time. I use to let her change her own diapers, but then I realized that she was chaning them way too often, usually going through 5-6 diapers a day. For example, she would wet it a little once and then she would just change it. I am the one who is buying the diapers and they are pretty expensive, I was wondering if it is ok for me to change her now, just because she goes through them like they are cheap and inexpensive. When she was first wetting she used cloth diapers with plastic panties, but those were just too hard to maintain, considering that my husband and I work full time and it gets hard to constantly be washing diapers. We have told our daughter that when her diaper is REALLY wet and/or dirty she should change it, but she can't be changing herself every time she goes potty a little bit. We told her that if she didn't change this we would start to change her and she wouldn't get to change herself any more. What do you think I should do, I don't think it is very good to be changing her diaper because she is growing up and she should be able to take care of herself, but then again I don't think I should have to be paying for diapers that are just basically dribbled in. KAREN-You say your son says he has a diaper fetish.I realise that is not what this site is all about,and many complain about perverts invading our self help resource. I thought though,that I'd got across that this is what has come about with my son. As I explained,he has always wet the bed,but this 'diaper' thing has somehow gradually grown up with him.Having looked into the matter at length,it is more common than I ever realised. Despite the protestations of many conservative parents here,I am not going to condemn my son as a pervert and drag him to a psychiatrist. If he ain't harming anyone else,as far as I am concerned,he can do as he chooses no matter how odd it may seem. It's your free choice,but I'd say just let him get on with it. Besides,the practicality is that the diapers DO save on washing bedclothes!Regards,SHARON.

To Karen (Son wearing diapers)Hi Karen,I posted you a reply,but it disappeared(!)so here it is again.My 14 year old son has always been an occasional bedwetter.He has managed with just a rubber sheet previously,but last year told me he wanted to wear diapers.At first,I thought he meant at night but then he told me that he felt a need to wear them in the day.We chatted calmly at great length,and his mind was made up.I helped him out doing thing properly;We went down the drugstore for cotton diapers and plastic pants,which he now prefers to wear most times.I've got used to it now,and we are all relaxed with the matter.Two ground rules I recommend-He is allowed to wet his pants any time he wants to,but must do his own laundry,including bed.He also buys his own diapers/plastic pants from his job money.If your child feels this need,just go with it as there's worse things in life.If you need moe advice or want to let me know how you get on,email:sharon.mould@bushinternet.comRegards,SHARON.

Hi, I'm Amy, a thirty year old mother of two. My daughter who is fifteen now has been having nightly accidents since January. She was very shy and quiet about the problem until she started coming to wetbusters. We started using protection on her after we made a few cisits to the doctor and nothing helped. She didn't feel comfortable wearing diapers until she met others in the teen area. She has many friends that she talks to about her problem and I think that it has made her more confident and happy. She uses the wetbusters star chart. She doesn't have many dry nights but she feels good when she is dry.

Today when my daughter (8) got home from school she had wet her pants. This is the fifth time now. I told her the last time that next time she came home with wet pants I was going to put her in one of her little sisters pull up. Today when she was wet, I took her up to her bathroom sat her on the toilet and made her sit there until she peed in it then I put her in a pull up. What would you have done?
