To Carina (who posted a reply)I read your response to a statement, particularly the last comment. I must admit,on a more serious not that 'undies' for older kids on days out is not an entirely American thing. With Shauna's consent (my daughter) she wears waterproofs(plastic panties) for long car trips, walks round countryside/city visits (ie:London)She and I don't have a problem with that at all-It's practical and generally less hassle than a girl having an 'anxiety attack' because she's wetting her knicks in the middle of the High St.Hope you're Ok with the terminology-We're England/Midlands.

My 13-year-old son was a bedwetter until he was 9 when he suddenly dried up. I thought we were finally done with piles of training pants and plastic pants as well as plastic sheets and pads. Until recently, he has'nt had a wet night in several years. About two months ago, at breakfast, he told me he wet his bed and mentioned something about wearing pants to bed in case it happened again. i did'nt think to much of it. The next morning, he was wet again! I dug up a pair of his old training pants and was suprised when he me, 'What about plastic pants?" I told him that he's not a baby anymore and he said he did'nt like wetting on himself. I reluctantly handed him a pair of old snap-on plastic pants and he immediately went to change into them. He then had to show me that the plastic pants were tight around his legs hinting at something. The next morning, I checked in on him before he woke and he was dry. 30 minutes later he was calling me wanting to be changed! He was soaking wet! I did'nt say anything at that point. At breakfast, he made me promise to buy him some bigger plastic pants to keep his bed dry so I won't get mad. OK, I'll humor him for a bit. I bought him several pairs of youth-size plastic pants and a dozen youth-size nighttime absorbency prefold cloth diapers and a few pins. I very reluctantly diapered him in a single diaper and put him to bed. That morning, I checked him and he was dry only to wake up as I was pulling his covers back and I could hear him wetting himself right in front of me! Humor, humor him. Since then, he has successfully untrained himself as far as nighttime bladder is concerned. Now he's wet by the middle of the night and am having to triple diaper him just to keep the bed dry! How can he be enjoying doing this? The more i show my disappointment, the more he seems to regress. i hope I won't have to put him back in diapers during the day. I think he's wearing his plastic pants to school. When it comes down to it, I think it's all rather harmless, but having a diaper pail back in the house makes me nervous. Any ideas???

You may remain anonymous in the article. If you are interested in participating, please respond to me at fletcher234@excite.com - thank you!Amy

Hi. I am the mother of a 10 year old who wets the bed every night and her pants, during the day, at least once a week. Next weekend we are going on a ski trip and I am wondering what I should do. My husband thinks that she should wear a diaper during the day under her ski clothes so that we know that she will not have a big accident. We have Teen Depends at our home and we use them every night and she has to wear one when she wets during the day for the rest of that day. There are many bathrooms at base of the resort, but not on the top of the mountain. I don't really have a problem with my husbands reasoning, excpet that when she wears a diaper she REFUSES to change it herself, meaning I have to do it. I don't know how it would look, taking her, a diaper, and a tub of wipes to the bathroom and then changing her. Please leave some comments! Thanks.

Hi again,Well, here's the latest. First, to Mr. John: I took your advice and informed my other children that this was to be kept private within our house. Apparently from some of the comments he made, there was a littleteasing at school by some of his classmates. On Friday I asked him if he had enough of wearing diapers and he replied that he didn't know for sure. This kind of threw me. I told him that he would continue to wear them until he could make up his mind one way or the other. I thought I better get the point of view of a professional, so I made an appointment with a child psychologist for later this week. To this person Josh: Unless you can make constructive comments to assist people on this board who are having genuine problems with their children, why don't you keep your sarcastic comments to yourself. Again thanks to those who have helped me with this and I hope to give you another update later after we see the psychologist.

Well i guess im a bit concerned here.you all talk about putting your kids into a diaper cause you all are sick of the smell and the wash but you will wash pissy diapers instead.i have a 14 year old boy we live alone my wife ran off he began to wet at that time i thought it was because of that it wasnt it is medical i get him small adult disposable diapers called tranquility.magic medical i just dont know why you would wash pissy diapers when pissy sheets are just as bad.dont make a kid wear diapers and feel comfortable about it make them put the thing on and go to bed i know i dont want to see him or hear him crinklin around he was a baby once and that was enough i know i sound harsh but hey he will someday out grow pissing to bed then no more diapers.why make him proud to wear a diaper? well DONT it is a device to hold bodily fluid ..brine..that is it put it on at bed and take it off in the morning thats how i see it he knows that and we both are ok with that.but if i did catch him toddling around in a diaper than i would be inclined to seek therapy.some of your postings just dont make any sense and i get the feeling some of you may want your kids to be babies again i say grow up

I am not trying to scare you but my daughter wet the bed until she was 8 and then she stoped. But when she turned 14 she started wetting the bed again and said she needed diapers for sleepovers. So i went out and bought her goodnites thinking she would grow out of it again but i made an appointment just in case. They found nothing wrong with her but after i noticed there were more diapers being used than one a night and also that she would put them on way before bed time and would hestitate to take them off in the morning.I got very suspicous and when i noticed her wearing one under her skirt one day which happened to be soaking wet i made her take it off and explain why she was wearing it.She told me she liked wearing and wetting the diapers and demanded to wear them all the time and she even asked for real diapers like pampers.and when i said no to her she stood up right there in the kitchen and pooped her pants. Ever since then she has been sneaking diapers into the house and using them all the time. She wears them to school, home, even on vacations. We went to mexico and late at night when everyone was sleeping she snuck out of her room wearing a bathing suite top and a diaper and walked around the resort like she wanted people to se her in them. Its a living hell so watch out.
