From Peter, Child's Age 6 - 9/16/02 - IP#: 67.25.212.122 Click here to reply I am writing this note as an uncle of a 6-year-old boy who has just started all-day kindergarten and is having trouble getting emotionally comfortable using the "boy room" to empty his bladder. He comes home with pants very wet. I am trying to see if there are any parents who have been through this already and can give some advice.

Her diapers are wet when she gets up in the morning so I change her before breakfast. The school Holidays start at the end of the week so I will get a good idea about how often she is wet and how often she needs changing.Hope all is well with everyone!!!seeyaMandy

From Ellen, Child's Age 14 - 9/15/02 - IP#: 66.31.80.5 Click here to reply My son, who just turned 14 has been a bedwetter his whole life. It's never been a big deal to him because all of his older brothers have had the same problem and all stopped around 16 yrs. old. He has been using Goodnites for about a year now, which have been very convienent for all of us and allows him to stay over night with friends and realitives. The other day when I went to wake him up for school, he had a wet bed. When I asked him why he didnt wear the diapers, he told me he didn't want to anymore. At first this upset me because it was just so much easier if her did wear them, but my husband and I decided that he was 14 and he could decide for himself. Now, our big problem is that he wont launder his own bedding. I told him that he didn't have to wear the diapers if he didn't want to, but he had to wash his blankets. He agreed, but 4 days in a row, i've come home from work with wet sheets still on his bed. He seems to want to think that the wetting doesn't happen at all, he yells at me and has a fit when I try to discuss the wetting with him. It frustrates me that he won't take any responsibility, I think he's old enough to take care of himself with this problem, Am I correct? I think he should be taking care of it all by this age. Thanks in advance for any comments.

From Mandy, Child's Age 13 - 9/8/02 - IP#: 202.154.128.201 Click here to reply Well an update on Hannah! Well since she was put back into diapers I change her often. When she gets up in the morning I change her. I notice that the diaper is wet as soon as she gets up. I usually let her do her poo in the toilet before I put a clean diaper on her.I also change her as soon as she gets home from school. Also I have noticed in the last few school days she has come home I then then take off the diaper and I notice that she has pooed in the diaper. I dont mind but is this usual? If she would like to poo in the diaper as well then thats fine because thats what diapers are for.I will write again soon! Thanks everyone...Also we did the doctor thing and she seems fine!!!
From Karen, Child's Age 15 - 9/1/02 - IP#: 63.224.188.68 Click here to reply UPDATE! I asked my son about the diapers in his closet and he says that he likes to wear them for comfort and claims they help him sleep better. He says he only wears them to bed. Is this ok? Should I allow this and is this harmless as long as he keeps them private in his own bedroom. I am looking for advice from parents and I am wondering what they would do in this situation. He is socially healthy and is not having any problems in school and seems to be doing well. He says he just likes how diapers feel and thats why he wears them. Should he continue to wear diapers if he wants to?

From Mandy, Child's Age 13 - 8/18/02 - IP#: 202.154.128.153 Click here to reply Over the last week my daughter has been coming home from school in a wet uniform. I just thought that I would have a little talk to see if she was ok. She told me that she goes and talks with her friends at the end of the day at the other end of the school and then walks home and discovers that she needs to pee and that’s when it happens.
The other day I was in the supermarket and I met up with one of her best friends mother and we talked so I just asked her if she had also experienced this at some stage. She told me that her daughter has been wetting every so often but told me not to worry about it.
I then asked her what she does and she told me that just like my daughter she is also quite petit in size so she buys diapers for to wear at school. She only needs one diaper, as it seems to hold in all her pee. She told me that she helps her daughter change after school.
Also my daughter has started bedwetting again. Over the last two weeks she has wet the bed eight times. Four times a week.
She told me that she seems to be sleeping deeper maybe because of schoolwork or something. She seems to be a healthy girl drinks water and eats all the right foods. She also isn’t a huge fan of fast foods. I took her to see her doctor and she had the normal tests for kids who are wetting and she has nothing wrong with her the doctor said she is normal.
I don’t mind the extra washing. I am a home mother as my husband works and I actually enjoy doing the washing.
After reading this board it seems that it’s becoming more normal to put kids back into diapers. Is that right?
I will keep and eye out for all the replies I hope that I get lots of advice since this is a parent wetting board…
Thanks again
Mandy

From Karen, Child's Age 15 - 8/13/02 - IP#: 216.161.123.89 Click here to reply I was cleaning my sons room the other day and when I went into his storage closet I found about two cases of youth size diapers. I brought up bedwetting to him and he said he does it maybe 4 or 5 times a year. Is it abnormal for a kid his age to want and wear diapers? Should I have him tell his doctor about it. He lives a healthy normal life with friends and girlfriends but I know they dont know he wears them. IS THIS OK should I bring it up to him and should I let him continue to wear them or is it unhealthy and abnormal. THOSE WITH GOOD PARENTING CREDENTIALS REPLY ONLY preferably moms!.

Now the little one still needs to wear diapers so she wears pullups and sometimes huggies if she has a bowel incedent. Well, my older one has been wetting her pants recently and having bowel incedents. We took her to the docter to get everything checked and she has a very small bladder and has problems with her bowel. My husband and I know she needs a diaper so we're using a pullup now. But it is not working perfectly. Please leave a comment about a better diaper and suggestions
