That's a great question! Unfortunately, there's no easy answer, because every child is different. I agree that kids should probably start changing their own diapers as soon as they're able and semi-comfortable with doing so. I was actually an incontinent child myself, and my parents changed my diapers until I was about nine or ten (which, for me, may have been a little late because I was very reluctant to take that duty on myself). I've heard of other parents who go on changing their kids' diapers until 11 or 12 (which I think is pretty extreme), but I'd second the vote to put it at around 5-7. In both cases, I think that's pretty extreme.
