Yes, you may have the diapers and pants, but they will do no good if he won't wear them. I think forcing him to wear them at this point would do just as much harm as the other woman did five years ago. The Goodnights might work as a transition if he doesn't view them as diapers; if he does it probably won't work. Another thing you might try is to build up absorbency gradually, and then add the plastic covering later. For instance you could tell him that if wearing a pair of underpants to bed results in wet sheets, try two pairs, then three or four pairs, and then maybe fold a small towel and stick it in his underpants as a soaker - or between two pairs of underpants. Then finally, "maybe we should put something over all this to keep the wet clothes from getting the sheets wet". Build it up gradually, one layer at a time, and he just might get there without realizing it.
