Jill - If you have a washing machine using cloth diapers is easy, you just toss them into the washer, and they do save a lot of money. The flat Birdseye diapers I bought for my son cost only like $40 for 6 of them and the quality is such they look like they are wearing forever. Our problem is that he is what I call a sleepwetter - likely to wet anytime he falls asleep, so he uses extra diapers like when I drive him 3-1/2 hours for monthly visits to his father because he goes to sleep and floods them, or our recent trip to Disney where he did the same for all day, without a leak. I just didn't stop him in his excitement to change him. But he does end up re-using a lot of diapers. I am showing him now how to do the diaper pins, and he is getting there, although he often still brings them to me to put on for him, I think because it's just easier when mom does it. Even then, I started having him put on his own plastic panties so he stays involved and he likes to choose the color each night. Good luck with your son.
