Hi mr John and sorry for not replying sooner!I appreciate your interest in my case and your advice on how I might be able to solve my problems-actually,I got one of the devices for the bed Tom recommended the other day,so we are giving this method a try,and so far so good!I think the psychological effect on my daughter of not being forced to wear something against her will which she doesn't like is certainly a part of the problem, and the change has definitely improved her behaviour,so let's hope this will maybe stop her wetting! As for the long debate about cloth diapers and plastic pants, especially for babies and very small kids,my sister -in-law is a paediatrician like I mentioned before, and she did child psychology as part of her training so it's very useful to have her advice on -hand!Her opinion is that some of the problems mentioned by parents and kids on this site are due to medical reasons and can be cured that way,but others are more complex and sensitive and have psychological causes-she thinks that some do show tendencies of fetish inclinations developing, and need to be dealt with very carefully, especially with adolescents,or they may cause problems in their adult life which will affect social and sexual relationships etc.She also said that in general, cloth diapers have definite advantages on a long term basis, both economically and environmentally, but she thinks plastic pants are not healthy or comfortable and were often the cause of diaper rash due to the fact that they resrict air flow to the skin etc. and there are so many newer forms of diaper covers nowadays, even woollen oones, which are waterproof but still allow the skin to breathe.Having dealt with people from many other countries, even as far away as Russia and south-east Asia, she told me that Soviet mothers used to have only cloth diapers which they used thickly on babies and changed them immediately they soiled them-plastic pants were totally unknown and unavailable there, and nowadays, everyone uses pampers, even though the Russian made variety are not as good quality as those we have in the west-imported ones are only available in larger cities near to Europe and very expensive by local wage standards! Hope this os of interest and thanks again for the advice! Marie.
