I would like to add to some of my earlier comments about the reply from Monica. If she had referred to page 13 and John's reply she may have understood my "ramblings" better. I should say that someone who has had direct experience of psychological trauma inflicted by adults as a child is eminently qualified to express opinions. What trauma did Monica suffer as a child? She has absolutely no idea of my experiences in childhood or the circumstances under which I saw psychologist and psychiatrist. I would also like to point out to parents thinking of sending their children to a psychologist etc. to look at Monica's blinkered view. 'If you've seen a psychologist and psychiatrist do you think your opinions really count?' The answer is yes even more so as I have direct experience; something Monica has not! I also find her to be insulting, insensitive and intollerant. What a cheap and nasty shot to try and belittle someone because they attempted to help others and were HONEST and BRAVE enough to admit they had sought help to understand a facet of their psychological make up better. Who is she to say anyone's opinion does not count? (Everyone is entitled to an opinion!) To make massive value judgements on little evidence. I think she should appologise on this board, not just to me, but to every human being who has sought psychological and or psychiatric treatment. I am sure those parents who have placed their children in the care of such professionals will be delighted with monica's view of people who have recieved such treatement! I would be interested to hear any comments from psychologists and those involved in mental health on what can be done to deal with such backward attitudes still rife in the twenty-first century. You know something, sometimes I think there is no hope for humanity!
