Reply from Joan, Child's Age 14 - 10/20/02 - IP#: 80.225.46.212Maggie – Tom has taken one big step forward, in that he no longer needs to be nappied for long walks, but progress is painfully slow with his sleep wetting. We have tried regular waking during the night again, but with no more success than the last time we tried. At Steven’s suggestion, I sewed Velcro to Tom’s terry nappies, so that he didn’t need pins and could therefore manage them himself, but that was only successful for a while, as the Velcro lost its sticking properties after a few washes. We have now gone back to pins, so I have to help Tom with changes again. Long car journeys continue to be just as much of a problem as nights, so he still needs to be nappied for these but, although he is becoming increasingly embarrassed about it, he doesn’t object too much, as we try to involve him in the management of his problem, at least as much as his Asperger’s will allow. Has Scotty come to accept the need for diapering on long car journeys yet? |
