From the symptoms you mention, I'm sure that he is very constipated and needs to be cleaned out. The doctor will feel his belly and check him for constipation then explain the clean out procedure. This is a cronic type of problem with some children. It gets to a point where the child doesnt even realize that he or she is soiling themselves. You will never see a full bowel movement in his pants-- its always seepage around the obstruction in his intestine. Even after he is cleaned out you must be very careful that he doesnt get constipated again--make sure that he has a bowel movement every day and he may need some medications daily. Also the streached muscles around his anus and in his rectum will be loose for a few months until they return to normal. I can lead you to an internet site for this type of problem if you want it. Just let me know here and I will look it up for you. PS. There will probably be a need for a change in his diet as well. Dairy products (milk, cheese, chocolate, etc.) can be very constipating and even dangerous for some people with this condition. |
