An onset like this could be caused by a urinary tract infection, easily detectable by a urine test and treatable with oral antibiotics. Some other symptoms may be lower back pain, actually in the kidneys, pain in urination, and very dark or cloudy urine. Also possible as a cause is an emotional upset. Anything from death or divorce in the family to the school bully picking on him may cause enough upset to start a bedwetting problem. Could even happen that the upset of a few accidents caused by an infection can tumble into an emotional upset that snowballs the problem. You might ask him to think over what might be troubling him. Let him know he's not alone. It is private, but need not pull him with shame.
