A child who is punished for bedwetting or embarrassed by it may simply continue to be punished or embarrassed until they eventually outgrow it. I think that some children can be psychologically motivated enough by embarrassment or peer pressure to stop wetting, but others can't. There are also medications and alarms that help some children stop. But in the end, I don't think anyone can state with certainty exactly what made them stop. |
