Reply from Tom, Child's Age none - 3/18/02 - IP#: 159.39.16.14Your daughter's reluctance to use the toilets at school probably isn't much of a problem. Some kids (my own daughter was one) try not to use the toilets at school because they think they are dirty or they don't provide enough privacy. If you are changing sheets during the night and your daughter then denies wetting the bed, you might try not changing the sheets and letting her wake up in a wet bed. Maybe even have her change the sheets herself, even if you have to leave the wet sheets on the bed until she gets home from school. Not to punish or embarrass her, but to get her to realize that yes, she really did wet the bed. Until she admits that she has a problem, diapers may not help. If she removes the towels under the sheets because she doesn't think she needs them, she will probably remove the diapers as well. Once she agrees that she has a problem it will be easier to find a solution. There are many kinds of diapers available. Cloth diapers with plastic pants are more absorbant but disposables, especially the pull-up type, are easier for a child to manage without help. By the way, you might visit her doctor to find out if there is any physical problem, and consider trying alarms or medication before you just put her in diapers. |
