Reply from Maggie, Child's Age 11 - 3/13/02 - IP#: 12.86.10.147Bob, Adam, Joan and Tom -- This is a good thread. The sense that I get from it is that maybe too many of us who have to deal with this issue get too caught up in one idea (never used diapers, always use diapers, alarm systems work, he'll outgrow it, etc.) I don't much like the idea of working (and making my child work) "for years" on getting him up ever night, especially when he just may not be physically (or psychologically?) ready to stay dry, but I can see that using diapers continually at night and on trips, etc. without trying out other things once in a while might be a mistake. So I guess I have learned something here. We're going to sit down and discuss when and for how long our child should have a "diaper break" and try an alarm for a while again at night. But if we fail (as we have in the past) we are not going to keep pushing, we'll go back to diapers and try again later. Make sense to you guys? |
