Reply from Maggie, Child's Age 11 - 3/12/02 - IP#: 12.86.16.187Karen -- In defense of Fredrick’s sister (who I don’t know), doesn’t having diapers show and “making” kids do things depend a lot on how mature (emotionally and physically) the boys are? My husband tells me he was still pretty much a little boy at 15 and we expect the same will be true of our sons. On the other hand, some kids are nearly “all grown-up” at 12, which would change both the discipline and modesty issues considerably. Another issue is the particular parenting style. Some moms (even good ones) are over-protective, loving, strict and perhaps a bit smothering with their teenagers, while others are ready to let them out of the nest at 10 or 11. It seems to me that in either case most kids manage to get through their teen years and become happy, well-functioning adults. |
