Reply from Maggie, Child's Age 11 - 3/10/02 - IP#: 12.86.10.34John -- I agree that trip diapers for are often more of a convenience for parents than a real necessity for the child, but even when they complain, I think bedwetters feel a little safer on trips if they are diapered, and I know their parents do. We only diaper if a trip is going to take more than two hours or if it is going to be a particularly frantic or exciting day or there won’t be a bathroom nearby. Amusement parks and big city trips are the best example of this, but our boy also wore his diapers and plastic pants on Thanksgiving at my sister’s (under tearful protest) and on Christmas (when he hardly noticed he had them on). We have also used them a couple of times on sledding afternoons and each time he came back soaking wet. Except for these few times, however, he wears regular underpants. We have considered getting him plastic training pants for general use as an extra precaution but have not done so yet. I take it you would not recommend this. |
