Reply from Joan, Child's Age 13 - 3/10/02 - IP#: 80.225.48.224Maggie – When Tom was younger (up to the age of 10), I used to regularly change him in family changing rooms, and at that time he wasn’t in the least bit self-conscious. He would just climb up on to the changing table and let me change him, and take no notice of any other mother and child who came in. In fact I was probably more embarrassed than he was (changing a 10 year old boy’s nappies), but in the last three years he has started to get very embarrassed in such situations, so I try to avoid them, although it isn’t always possible. This is why I am now thinking in terms of extra soaker pads to increase the absorption of his terry nappies, so that I can use them for long car trips and avoid the need for mid journey changes. Have you had any experience with soaker pads for your boy’s trip diapers? Anyway, we will be taking a short holiday in Scotland at Easter, so I will abandon the Tena Slips this time and use one of his terry nappies with a soaker pad for the 7 hour journey and see how it works out. At Christmas, we usually go for a walk after lunch, and on Tom’s birthday in April, I usually take him to a nearby fun park in the afternoon. I have him nappied on both occasions. |
