Reply from Joan, Child's Age 13 - 3/9/02 - IP#: 80.225.19.163Maggie – The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that you are right. There is no point in switching to DryNites if Tom ever has a friend over for a sleepover. It would be more trouble than it’s worth. His terry nappies work well, are more environment friendly, cost less in the long term and he prefers them. I don’t think he would ever have the sort of friend who would mock him and tell the other kids, so I have probably been worrying unnecessarily. Like you with your boy, I would put Tom in his terry nappies for long trips if there were somewhere to change him when his nappy became soaked, but changing him in baby changing rooms in the presence of other mothers and small kids would be too embarrassing for him. I think I will try folding one or two baby terry nappies to use as an extra soaker pad inside his regular nappy to make it last longer without leaking. It would make his nappy more bulky, but it wouldn’t matter in the car. How do you manage on long trips if your boy’s cloth diaper becomes soaked? Also, do you still change him, or has he mastered the folding and pinning yet? I hope things work out for you when spring arrives and he is no longer in snowpants. |
