Reply from Maggie, Child's Age 11 - 3/8/02 - IP#: 12.86.10.149Joan-- Since our boy began wearing night diapers last summer he has been to three sleepovers and he has not taken his diapers. On two of these he managed to stay dry but on the third he soaked his bed and got some teasing from the other boys. He has told his friends that he wets occasionally but they do not know the extent of it or that he wears diapers and plastic pants at night. Although he does not have frequent daytime problems, we decided last November (after seeing this board and getting advice from a teacher relative) that it might be easier on all of us if he was diapered for longer car trips and other special times, and he is just now beginning to accept this without a major battle each time. His best friend will be staying over with us next weekend while his mother is out of town and we are planning an all day shopping/play trip so the cat will soon be out of the bag, but we expect the boy will be discreet about it. Some embarassment, unfortunately, goes with being a bedwetter. You don’t want to add to it any more than necessary, but you can’t eliminate it completely. |
