Reply from bruce, Child's Age 10 - 2/9/02 - IP#: 203.155.9.152They say that incontinence and bedwetting runs in families, and that certainly applies in our case. I have two kids, the eldest of whom is 10. He wears a diaper to bed at night and has done all his life. My sister has two daughters, aged a bit younger than my boy (8, 9). Both girls are bedwetters and also wear diapers to bed. When my sister travels she puts a diaper on both girls so they can sleep in the car, and also to avoid having to stop for toilet breaks. There is nothing unusual in such an arrangement and I have read on this board that other parents do the same thing. My son is not diapered for car trips but occasionally does ask to be diaperd during the day. We have asked him why he wants to wear daytime protection. He says sometimes when he is playing he needs to go and just doesn't have time to get to a toilet. I suspect he also likes the feeling of wearing diapers, but I don't really know. Anyway, just lately we have noticed that my son asks to wear a diaper in the daytime when he knows his cousins (the two girls) are coming for a visit. When the girls get here their mother keeps them diapered until it is time for a bath (because they are usually wet), and then puts new diapers on them before bed. We are a little worried that my son is growing fond of diapers, perhaps because he sees his counsins wearing them, and I am wondering what we have got ourselves in to! Should I be concerned? Any advice welcome. |
