First let me start by saying that no child wants to wet the bed. I have ordered some bedwetter pants for my 7y/o who seems to be ready to move on. My 5y/o will wear diapers and rubber pants for awhile yet. The use of protection for overnight should be an agreed upon issue between parents and child no child should be forced to wear diapers. The woman I babysat for for quite awhile had 3 bedwetters and after 4 dry nights in a row she would let the child wear underpants but with rubber pants on over them and if they went for 4 more dry nights they could sleep with their underpants and no rubber pants. They also knew that if the started wetting again 2 nights they would ve to go back to diapers and rubber pants and start all over again. They were happy when they could wear underpants, it provided a bit of incentive and yet they always unerstood when the underpants were taken off and the diapers were put back on. My cousin wet the bed and at age 10 my aunt got an alarm system to use. A moisture sensor ttaches to the underpants and the first drops of moisture would set the alarm off. For the first couple of weeks my aunt had my cousin wear rubber pants over the underpants and then when my cousin would wake up faster the rubber pants were stopped. It took about 3 months for my cousin to completely stop wetting the bed.
