First of all no child wants to wet the bed and so the wearing of protection for overnight should be something that the child agrees to do and it should not be forced on them. I have ordered some bedwetter pants for my 7 y/o. Seems ready to move on to something else. The 5 y/o will wear diapers and rubber pants for awhile yet. Bedwetter pants maybe a help in your sisters case. It seems that at 14 & 16 the boys should be working at being dry. youe idea of beng out of fiapers after a few dry nights seems ok. The woman I babysat for a number of years who had the 3 bedwetters told thekids that when they had 4 dry nights that they could wear their underpants to bed but they had to wear the rubber pants over them. I remember this seemed to help them get the idea of what it was to stay dry. Also if the started wetting again she told them they would go back to having diapers and rubber pants. I remember that they were happy not to have to wear the diapers and didn't seem to mind the underpants and rubber pants. Also your sister might want to try an alarm system,my aunt used this on my cousin age 10 a moisture sensor goes on the underpants and as soon as the first drops of moisture hit the sensor the alarm goes off the child wakes up and goes to the bathroom. My Aunt put rubber pants over the underpants for the first couple of weeks until the wetting volume decreased and then stopped using the rubber pants, I think it took about 3 months and my cousin had dry bed all the time. You can search the net for bedwetter pants and bedwetting alarms. Good Luck to your sister.
