The previous reply was right on target. Im 16 and have been a wetter all my life. I use cloth diapers at home and Depends Overnights when away. I come from a whole family of wetters at some point in their lives. First, Im suprised you waited this long to put your son back in diapers because the longer you wait, the more difficult it becomes to adjust to them. I have a few suggestions that might help. First, you should take him to a drug store and show him the adult diaper section to help him to understand that people of all ages have the same problem that he has and they use diapers to help control the problem. He needs to be made to understand that the protection is nothing more than a tool to control the problem ( like a brace or wheelchair for a person who cant walk )and that it is not babyish. Second, show him this web site and let him talk to the kids in the 11-20 chat room as well as read the posts from kids there. Almost all of those kids wear some form of diaper (protection) at night. We can offer support and provide advise on dealing with friends and situations (like sleep overs ). Third, refer to the diaper in terms other than babyish terms (we use "night gear" around my house). Last, purchase a product that is different from his brothers, one that he can manage by himself, and looks and feels like underwear. I would suggest a disp. called Goodnites which can be found in the baby diaper section. They pull on and are for older kids. They come in three sizes and can fit kids in excess of 125 pounds. They can also be used on sleep overs without the other kids finding out (have him ask us for the methods we use). Occasionally (not often if they are sized right), they do leak a little on some kids so a reusable bed pad is a good idea or plastic pants can be used with them. If you like, Ill speak with him in the chat room (Steven 16 with the bear icon). Just post a date and time here and Ill be there.
