What kind of diapers to get is a matter of preference. There are both reuseable and disposable diapers available to fit just about any size person. There are many kinds of reuseable diapers available from flat pin-ons, velcro closure, pull-ups, and contoured custom made ones. I prefer cloth with plastic pants because they are less expensive in the long run, but if he will need them for several years and is growing you may not want to buy something that won't grow with him. You put them on just like you would on a baby, except that for older children and adults there are extra tapes on the disposables that hold it around the thighs and help prevent sagging. Four pins for cloth are recommended for the same reason. A ten year old could probably learn to diaper himself if using anything that doesn't require pins.
