My son Michael is also in nappies full-time, and has been for some time. He has a small bladder so has always needed to wear a nappy for his urine. In the last 12 months, however, he has had frequent BM accidents as well, so much so that he rarely bothers going to the toilet any more. We are worried about it, of course, but nothing we have tried so far has worked. As for nappy changing, I agree with you, it is a pain, and a boy of 15 is ready to start changing himself. Michael long resisted the idea of self-care but in the last six months we have made it clear that he is now of an age when he must do it himself. He does have problems putting a nappy on properly, which results in leaks. However, we believe the self-disicipline is good for him. The situation is fluid - his mother will still change him occasionally, if he has a particularly bad accident, or is upset or unwell. But we seem to be making progress on the changing front at least. By the way, I would appreciate some advice myself on how you manage caring for Oliver: changing times, nappy brands, school arrangements. Would you consider e-mailing me? I assure you our problem is real. I am at michaelbrave@hotmail.com (my son's account). Thank-you.
