I am 16 and have wet the bed all my life. I come from a family of wetters (when they were young) so I know the reason for my wetting. Please see my post in the 11-20 board on 8/16/01. Since I have had this problem for so long, I have done considerable research on the subject. One thing comes immediately to mind. The onset of puberty seems to trigger wetting in some children for a period of time. I would suggest that you limit fluid intake about 2 hours before bed, obtain a nasal spray called DDVP from your doctor, and be supportive. It is unlikely your child has delevoped a fetish for diapers at her age even though a dependency or form of "security blanket" can develop from the use of them. Psychologists have a tendency to reduce problems such as this to a "mental" cause rather than physical (although child abuse and sibling regressiveness can be a big factor). I use diapers. It is much better than a cold wet bed and the laundry burden is much reduced as long as your daughter is comfortable with wearing them. You might also have your daughter visit the rest of us in the 11-20 chat room for support. Im sure that this will go away; just give it some time.
