Betty Your response is reasonable. You are handling the situation to the best of your ability according to the circumstances you find yourself in. Don't blame yourself, sometimes kids do things and they may not even know why. I was very much like your son, like him during the summer of my 11th year I decided I wanted to be put back in diapers. I was already wearing them at night because I was wetting the bed, I just decided I wanted to be in them full time. Like you my mothers response was reasonable. She asked me if this is what I really wanted, of course I told her yes. She then told me that we would try it for a few weeks, but there would be conditions. In addition accepting the fact that it may be necessary to change me in front of other people at times, or even having other people beside's my parents change me, I would also be put on a bottle, and at least part of my diet would consist of being spoon fed baby food. My mothers reasoning was that if I wanted to experiance one aspect of being a baby, then I had to experiance all aspects. She did have one advantage, that you may not currently have. This all took place during the early seventies and she was able to hire a diaper service to handle the extra laundry load. She did not mind changing my dirty diapers, she just did not want to wash them. After a little more then six weeks I finally decided I did not want to do this any more, and the diapers came off and the matter was closed. I still wore them at night for a while longer, but that also ended. Looking back on this, I honestly could not tell you why I did this.
