Hi WendyYour 12 yr old daughter started wetting the bed a year ago so you decided to put a nappy and plastic pants on her ! 1 the doctor is usually right children do grow out of wetting the bed eventually you have said that the doctor has checked her out thats good you state that she is wet evey morning may I ask did the wetting suddenly start or did it gradually get worse if it started suddenly then it could have something to do with anxiety if there has been a bereavement in the family that your daughter liked could be the reason why she suddenly started to get her out of nappies is a tough one the thing is you dont want her to become nappy dependant you said you put a nappy and plastic pants on her and she cried well that would be a natural thing to do as she felt you were treating her as a baby unless you explained the reason you were doing such a thing my advise is to let well alone for another 12 months or so and see if her wetting of her nappy decreases in severity I would agree that it is better to sleep in a dry bed and wear protection that absorbes the urine than let her sleep in a wet bed I did not use to feel this way but after problems with my children wetting the bed and my wife would not put a nappy on my son as she felt it would make him feel more of a baby so she persevered with wet sheets and if my son woke up wet she would change the sheets although it is more work my son soon stopped wetting good luck best wishes Tom!
