Jeremy, It sounds like you might have had a growth spurt recently and your bladder hasn't grown with the rest of your body. That's common in both boys and girls going through puberty and a bladder too small for your body can cause wet pants and a wet bed. If that's the case, just be patient, your bladder will catch up eventually. In the meantime, use whatever protection works best for you. You shouldn't need a swim diaper, they are just for containing poop and will not hold pee. If you are using a regular diaper like Depends while swimming, it will only fill up with water and get very heavy in the pool. I would recommend no protection at all while swimming. I know some people make a big deal about peeing in the pool, but pee is sterile (contains no bacteria) and a little pee in the water won't hurt anything; but if you compete at swim meets, a bulky diaper will definitely hurt your performance.
