Hi Darren – I have just seen your posting and Tom’s reply. I am the “Joan” he was referring to. My 14 year old son (also called Tom) has Asperger’s Syndrome and also suffers from Dyspraxia, but not Dyslexia. He has always wet while asleep, both in bed and also on long car journeys, when he usually falls asleep. He wears terry nappies for his sleep wetting (as disposables leak when he sleeps on his side), but because of his Dyspraxia, he has difficulty fixing the pins, so I have fixed Velcro to his nappies so that he can change himself (at the suggestion of Steven, one of the teenage posters on this board). Tom is just getting used to the Velcro and is learning to manage his own changes. Having researched the symptoms of Asperger’s and Dyspraxia, I have not found any significant correlation with sleep wetting. I strongly suspect that Tom’s wetting is inherited and not caused by his Asperger’s, as both my husband and I had similar wetting problems in our teens, and my husband still has some problems. If your wetting is associated with Dyslexia, then I am afraid that our experience with Tom is unlikely to be of any help to you. Best of luck in your searches for a cure.
